Chamboree 2010

• Around 800 cubs and more than 3000 Scouts, Explorers and Leaders listened to Patrick’s presentation and began to understand the issues
•  Leaving the site we had £1489.82 in donations for bottled water, with the first bottle filled with coins being returned by one Scout Troop on the last day –Thank You!
• Many thanks to Berrington Spring, Impact brands and Flexistore who filled, labelled and transported 2000 bottles of water to Chamboree F.O.C.
• If you are using your empty water bottle to collect money following Chamboree details are now below of what to do with it.
• We have still have some water available for those interested in running a Global Challenge project. Thanks to Davenham Scouts have booked 80 bottles for their project already!

  The launch of the Water for Life project at Chamboree 2010 exceeded our expectations:   Around 800 cubs and more than 3000 Scouts, Explorers and Leaders listened to Patrick’s presentation and began to understand the issues.   NEW UPDATE - In the photo, just received, you can see the following:   LEFT to RIGHT: Cement for the Wellheads, Packets of rods to connect the pump mechanism to the water lifting valve, A bag of one way valves and other parts, A pump top with pumping handle, Galvanised 2 inch pipes (front) to draw water from the bottom of the boreholes to be dug by hand, Six India MK11 pump bodies with mounting plates, At the back are lengths of four inch PVC pipe used to line the boreholes.

• Patrick back in Zambia
  

  Patrick arrived back in Zambia on 19th February and has already had a meeting with our Satellite Communications contractor Quick Edge to resolve maintenance problems. He has since, with brother Kyle, surveyed the Mission Hospital Generator which has been a cause of concern.

• Water Bottle Appeal
  

  I turned on the tap one summer morning, to fill the kettle – and nothing happened. Our water comes down the hill from a spring about half a mile away, and it took us three weeks to trace the problem...
